Young Women’s Writing Contest

S.C.—The Junior League of Greenville, Inc., (JLG) is now accepting entries
for its eighth annual Young Women’s Writing Contest. The contest is open to all female students in Greenville County public, private and home school programs in grades 6 through 12. The winner of the 2020 Young Women’s Writing Contest will be announced in the spring of 2020. Along with a $500 scholarship award, the winning essay will be published in the Spring 2020 issue of VISIONS magazine, and the winner will be invited  to accept her award at the JLG’s Annual Meeting in May. VISIONS, the Junior League of Greenville’s signature magazine, is published twice yearly and reaches an audience of over 4,500 readers.The Junior League of Greenville invites interested candidates to write an essay in response to the following topic:

Tell us about a time when you challenged your pre-existing worldview. Upon reflection, what were the circumstances and how do you feel that it bettered you? In this essay, choose a time that you listened to experiences and perspectives contrary to yours with respect and maturity. Demonstrate that you are able to zoom out from your personal worldview and learn from those with whom you may disagree.
