Tina Hampton BIO
Katina “Tina” Hampton is a native of Hendersonville, NC where he ancestors go back to the early 1700’s. She received an associate degree from St. Mary’s Junior College in Raleigh, NC. She is the mother of three and has been blessed with four wonderful grandchildren.
Her volunteer activities have centered around her children by serving on numerous PTA Boards, soccer mom, scout leader, cheerleader mom, and school carnival chairs to name a few. Tina has served in numerous positions of her church and was one of the original Board members of SC Children’s Theatre. Arrangements Chair, Nominating, and hospital puppets are a few of the Placements that she has held in the League.
Tina joined the Junior League of Greenville in 1987. After a brief move to Augusta, GA she returned to Greenville and began working for the JLG in 1990. As the Director of Administration for some 35 years, she has been an eyewitness to the massive impact the League has made on the Greenville community. Watching young people being trained by the League to grow into outstanding leaders and then go on to serve the community through other non-profit outlets is one of the most satisfying parts of her job. Above all she loves to point out that the Junior League was instrumental in the revitalization of downtown Greenville. As other businesses, offices, and restaurants were moving out of down town proper, the League put their “money where their mouth was” and moved into 17 W. North. As one of the few businesses still operating along the main street corridor, we publicly supported the Hyatt coming to Greenville, were one of the very first donors of the Center for the Performing Arts (now the Peace Center), a charter supporter of the Children’s Museum, and a huge supporter in the redevelopment of the West End by becoming a major donor to the new SC Children’s Theatre. Tina considers herself to be blessed to have been able to serve the League for over 35 years where some of her most wonderful memories and best friends were formed.
